Every spring, whimbrels, a small relative of the curlew,
make the long journey north from Africa to their breeding
grounds in Iceland. Barnacre Reservoir is a regular and
important staging post on this journey. Come and enjoy
watching them come in to roost and participate in a
co-ordinated county-wide count to help establish how
many of these beautiful birds use Lancashire sites as stopovers
on this incredible journey. Suitable for children aged
10 years and over if accompanied by an adult. This is a
joint event organised by the RSPB and Wyre Borough
Council.
