Delivering the Blues, Gospel, Barrelhouse and Rhythm & Blues of New Orleans

Tipitina are the real thing. A hugely talented combo delivering the red hot and rocking music from the New Orleans of Dr John, James Booker, Professor Longhair and Fats Domino.

Blues In Britain reviewed their album: “A wonderful CD, it superbly captures how this incredible band sound – phenomenal. 10/10”

Not a jazz band, but there’s enough jazz in there for Tipitina to be voted 3rd in the Best Small Group category of the 2017 British Jazz Awards, as well as runner-up in the jazz category of the 2017 Urban Music Awards.

Rock’n’Reel Magazine wrote “Tipitina are a barnstorming live act, few do this with such conviction. A joyous ride through up-tempo feel-good rockers and gospel-tinged blues.”

The band are the leading attraction at The Birmingham Jazz Festival, they sell out Ronnie Scotts, are favourites at both Upton Jazz and Upton Blues Festivals and represented the Royal Albert Hall, London in the West End Live Festival.
Tipitina’s two CDs both enjoyed extensive and international airplay and on their recent trip to New Orleans performed at that City’s clubs and were the subject of a four page feature in The New Orleans Times-Picayune, the most important publication in Louisiana.

Jefferson Magazine in Sweden said “This is music that breathes New Orleans, feels New Orleans and just takes you to New Orleans – and that is because Tipitina do it all so well”

Singer Debbie Jones is a powerhouse. Her roots are in Gospel – she rocks and she rolls through the wonderful music of New Orleans with style and personality. Meanwhile Pianist Justin Randall is quite simply the finest and most exciting New Orleans style piano player from outside of Louisiana.
“She has a lot of soul in her voice” [Legendary singer Irma Thomas]
“Debbie Jones is as sultry as a night downtown, Justin boogies like there’s no tomorrow” [The Sunday Mercury]
