A star of the local arts scene is currently exhibiting his latest work at The Dukes gallery in Lancaster.
Gallery exhibitions are a new venture for Morecambe’s Shane Johnstone whose outdoor and community work is well known.
Passage Of Venus is a selection of painted portraits of the little known stars from the constellations traversed on Venus’s intergalactic journey.
In December, Shane asked 50 collaborators from around the world to choose a significant date. The position of Venus on that date was plotted and the nearest star became the subject of the paintings on display which Shane describes as ‘Byzantine sci-fi’.
Passage of Venus runs until March 12 and can be viewed during normal Dukes opening hours. If you are making a special trip to see it, call the Box Office as sometimes the gallery is used for other activities.
