BBC TWO’S hugely popular programme, Stargazing Live, is back in the New Year and to mark its return the Williamson Park, Lancaster and Lancaster and Morecambe Astronomical Society are hosting a street stargazing event designed to encourage everyone to make the most of the night sky.

The idea behind street stargazing is to take telescopes out of observatories and onto the streets where more people will have the chance to learn about the wonders of the Universe. The Lancaster event will take place on 10th January 2014 at Williamson Park from 18:30.

Organised by Lancaster and Morecambe Astronomical Society (LaMAS) the event is one of a number being held up and down the country, designed to show people how accessible astronomy can be even in towns and cities. People will have chance to learn about using Astronomy and have a go to look through telescopes at the Moon, Jupiter and the great constellations on show this January. There’ll be a range of telescopes to look through and expert guidance from LaMAS astronomers.
