Sew What! Textile Art Exhibition

- January 10th, 2017

January 10, 2017 @ 10:00 am – 8:00 pm
The Dukes Gallery
Moor Lane, Lancaster

Textile art is making a social comment with a hint of humour in The Dukes gallery.

Sew What! is the work of Lancaster-based textile artist James Fox who trained at Goldsmiths College in London at a time when textile courses were more experimental than those in fine art.
“Sew What! has been inspired by the social and political climate that has come about in the last ten years, and the trouble people have had with trying to have their voice heard,” said James.
“People can expect to see some social comment done in cloth and thread , hopefully with a hint of humour!”
James has exhibited his work locally, nationally and internationally and won a Textile Society award in 2014. He was also artist in residence at the Harris Museum in Preston last year.
Sew What! runs until February 5 and can be viewed during normal Dukes opening hours. If you are making a special trip to see it, call the Box Office as sometimes the gallery is used for other activities.
