During the 70s and 80s Prelude had hits with their unique acapella version of Neil Young’s ‘After the Goldrush’, their original song ‘Platinum Blonde’ and their version of Roy Orbison’s ‘Only the Lonely’. They toured with Ralph McTell and provided the background vocals on his No1 hit, The Streets of London. They also toured with Joan Armatrading, Michael Chapman and Don McClean.

Prelude’s set list is a mixture of their own compositions and their favourite songs by the likes of Paul Simon, James Taylor, Neil Young etc.

Prelude are:
Irene Hume – vocals. Irene is an original member and is widely regarded as one the finest female singers to come out of the North East of England.
Brian Hume – acoustic guitar, mandolin and vocals. Brian is also an original member of the group and has written many of the songs the group is know for including Platinum Blonde, City Tonight, Freedom, My Granddaughter’s Face, On Hearing Dylan for the First Time etc.
Paul Hooper – percussion. Paul was the drummer for the Fortunes who had numerous hits in the 60’s and 70’s and toured the world with the band.
Keith Tulip – bass. Keith is an accomplished bass player who brings a great jazz feel to the group.
