Trough of Bowland

Join us on the United Utilities Bowland estate for a walk along one
of the Forest of Bowland’s most sunning valleys to learn more
about the international importance of the area for birds of prey
and the rare upland habitat they call home during the spring and
summer. Birds to look out for will include the elusive ring ouzel, a
regular breeder in the valley, our smallest bird of prey, the merlin,
and if you are incredibly lucky you may also be rewarded with a
sighting of England’s rarest bird of prey, and emblem of the AONB
– the enigmatic hen harrier.
Bring a packed lunch and some water and don’t forget your
binoculars if you have some. Suitable for children 10 years and over
if accompanied by an adult.
Booking essential. Please contact the RSPB on 01524 581001 or
£5, 4-5 hours, terrain guide 4, 5 miles.
