Local contemporary artists Chris Pilcher and Joel Chan present an exhibition called ‘Life’ in the Ashton Memorial.
This is a Making Memories event and all proceeds raised will be donated to this local charity that raises money for children whose parents have a terminal illness.
The theme of the exhibition is ‘Life’ and the artwork will be based on ideas about the difference between living and existing. The artists hope that visitors to the exhibition will leave wanting to do something new or different, and be inspired to live life to the full rather than just exist. Through a juxtaposition of photography and drawing the show plays on ideas of person hood and what it means to be a human, highlighting the difference between our perceptions of strangers and the real lives they have.
It explores fulfillment, joys and sadness, the high and lows of being a person and the fragility of human life. We hope to inspire living to the full and a celebration of life.
Families are welcome. There will be a space for children and adults to create and leave memory flags and memory cards to put in the exhibition.
The exhibition opens on Saturday 26 April at 8.30pm – 11pm and Sunday 27 April from 10am- 5pm.
