Meet a local resident who will talk about the history of
Sawley Abbey, founded in 1148. You will then walk around
the village to get a different perspective of the site of this
former Cistercian abbey near the banks of the river Ribble
and beneath dramatic Pendle Hill. Afterwards participants
will have Afternoon Tea at the Spread Eagle, Sawley.
Sawley Abbey and the Spread Eagle are wheelchair-friendly
but some of the walk route will not be.
