Dry stone walls are a key part of Bowland’s landscape. They also provide shelter for livestock along with habitat for insects, birds and small mammals. Good dry stone walling is a real skill and, if our walls are to survive well into the future, it’s a skill which needs encouraging. The Pendle Hill Landscape Partnership dry stone walling competition is a great place to find out more.
