St James, Stocks-in-Bowland was consecrated in 1852 but dismantled and relocated to make way for the construction of Stocks reservoir. It was reopened as a Mortuary Chapel on the present site in 1938 and the churchyard, designated a Biological Heritage Site, and is an oasis for native wildflowers. Walk round the churchyard with local experts and identify rare species of wildflower, grasses and sedges and learn about the history of the area from the displays within the Chapel. Refreshments available in Slaidburn at extra cost.
